What We Pave for Commercial and Industrial Sites
Commercial and estate work is not a bigger driveway: larger areas, heavier traffic, and a specification somebody has to sign off before anything is ordered.
✓Customer and staff parking areas and bays — retail, medical, office park and industrial.
✓Loading zones and forklift roads — surfaces that take repeated turning under load.
✓Access roads and internal roads — street gate to building, and between buildings.
✓Dispatch and yard areas — hardstanding where vehicles stand, turn and load.
✓Estate and complex roads, entrances and common areas — guardhouse aprons and visitor bays.
✓Pedestrian walkways, sidewalks and precinct paving — school and hospital approaches.

For a private home, see driveway paving. If the surface is already down and failing, that is paving restoration.

One Logix, Kempton Park — 4,000 m². A logistics and fleet operation, so the parking takes delivery vehicles and trucks rather than cars, all day. 80 mm interlocker throughout, and the largest single commercial area we have laid.
Famous Brands, Hennopspark — 650 m². A laden forklift turns on the spot, driving the load into the same small patch of surface every shift. That is why we spec 80 mm there and lay it herringbone.
These projects, and around sixty more, sit in our project gallery with photographs.
How We Work With Managing Agents, Body Corporates and Main Contractors
Most of our commercial work comes through someone who has to justify the appointment to a trustee board, a budget holder or a quantity surveyor. The paperwork matters as much as the paving. We work for body corporates, managing agents, estates, private developers, main contractors and business owners.

Retaining Walls for Commercial and Estate Sites
Where a site is cut into a slope, the paving and the retaining structure are one job, not two — terracing a parking area into a fall, holding a bank off an access road, retaining a yard platform. We build segmental retaining walls, with drainage weep holes built in.
Above a certain height a wall becomes a structural design needing an engineer's appointment, and we will tell you at the site visit which side of that line yours is on. Offered on commercial and estate contracts only.
What We Lay, and What We Do Not
We lay concrete block and interlocking pavers in 50, 60 and 80 mm gauges, clay brick paving, cobbles, flagstone-format units and decorative pavers. Edge restraint is part of every installation, and we lift, correct the base under, and relay existing block paving. We buy from MVA Bricks, Infraset, Tuscan Stone, Technicrete and Corobrik.
We do not lay tar, asphalt, chip-and-spray or exposed aggregate — if your specification calls for a bituminous surface we will say so at first contact, not after a site visit. We build to an engineer's design where one exists, but we do not produce one.
Commercial Paving Questions From Buyers and Specifiers
Our paving has started to move where the forklift drives in. Repair, or a full relay?
Usually a repair. Movement under forklift traffic is normally the base or the drainage, not the block: the area is lifted, the base recompacted, and the same units go back down. See paving restoration.
Do we need 80 mm pavers, or will 60 mm do?
It depends on the traffic: 80 mm for heavy commercial and industrial, 60 mm for light commercial — One Logix and the Famous Brands forklift road are both 80 mm. But thicker is not automatically better. The Concrete Manufacturers Association is blunt about it: specifying unnecessarily thick blocks adds cost without improving performance. The layers underneath matter as much as the block, and we will tell you when you are being over-specified.
Can new paving be laid over an existing concrete surface?
We look at this on site. It turns on whether the slab is sound, what the new levels do to doorways and falls, and where the water then runs. See also concrete paving.
What does the 20-year workmanship guarantee cover, and how is it issued?
It covers our workmanship on every installation we do, issued in writing on the same document as the quotation and specification. It covers how the pavement was built, not damage from loads it was never specified to carry — so we ask what will drive on it.
How far do you travel, and what is the largest area you have paved?
Roughly 30 km of our base in Lyttelton Manor, Centurion, though commercial work has taken us to Kempton Park, Randburg and Marlboro Gardens.
